SOLD OUT! How to License Your Art & Design Work

  • Closed

Los Angeles Workshop
Sunday, February 9th
9am-12pm
Limited to 20 students

I have been working in the design field for 18 years and have spent most of that time designing and creating products through licensing. Oh Joy! has had collections with Target, Band-Aid, Clorox, CalPak, Petco, Freshly Picked, Alice & Ames, MixBook, and many more brands. In this in-person workshop, I will cover all the steps it takes to work with a brand to license your work for their products.

This workshop includes:

- A tour of the Oh Joy! studio
- Background from Joy of her history and experience of partnering with numerous brands to license designs.
- An opportunity to meet and connect with other fellow creatives
- Detailed breakdown and steps from Joy including:
  • How to decide what companies make sense for your work
  • How to make sure your art or designs are a great fit for licensing
  • How to cold pitch to companies you want to partner with
  • What to ask for in terms of royalties, fees, and usage rights
  • The product development process with licensed products
  • Marketing and selling your licensed products
  • Q&A session for Joy to answer any of your business questions
  • And more...

The workshop will be held at the Oh Joy! Studio on the East side of Los Angeles. Address will be emailed to all attendees in advance. Please make sure you are available on this date as there are no cancellations or refunds.

*When you purchase a spot in our workshop, you will be offered an opportunity to sign up for a one-on-one business coaching session with Joy at a special discounted rate. You can wait and use that one-hour session for detailed feedback on your progress post workshop if you choose!

Testimonials

I made the trip from North Carolina to attend Joy's Licensing workshop, and it was one of the best investments I made in 2019. I came home with SO much more confidence and understanding of the process and the value I could bring to a partnership.

After the workshop, I re-negotiated a current collaboration to receive a larger commission, have my brand's name on packaging, AND the chance to have my hand in the design process more than I ever had before. We just debuted our collection in Atlanta, Dallas and Las Vegas markets, and it's a huge success all around.

Without Joy's guidance and encouragement,  I wouldn't have had the confidence to ask for what my brand was worth.  Moving into this year, licensing is a huge goal for me and a much larger part of my business portfolio.
